WORKSHOP EMOTIONAL SKIN (PERFORMANCE 'BEHAVIOURS')

Polytechnic Museum, Moscow (Russia)
Concept and Art direction: Sonia Cillari
Polytech.Science.Art program
Curator: Natalia Fuchs.
Consultancy: Yan Kalnberzin and Sergey Kasich. Artistic collective: Alexey Epishev, Yulia Chekmas, Vagan Saroyan, Vera Iguchi, Marina Levakova, Vera Schelkina, Ilya Trofimov, Sergey Tubashov, Denis Zaporozhan, Denis Gurjev.
PERFORMANCE 'BEHAVIOURS':
Participants created a new performance – a responsive environment which was entitled 'Behaviours' - the realization of which investigated both the fields of research of ‘Body as Interface’ and ‘Performative Spaces’.
The performance focuses on the visualization and sonification of the changes of the proximity of bodies in physical space, as well as on the relations between body and space, which are revealed by the performative connections between the bodies and their related visual and audio environments. With an homage to Oskar Schlemmer’s famous drawing – 'Figure in space with plane geometry and spatial delineations' (ca. 1921) – the performance adopted a minimalist grammar marked by essential geometrical digital structures and was shaped as a perceptual organism, which reveals the invisible force fields between those entities – physical bodies and their own environment.
PREMERIED AT:
- PLATFORMA CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY MEDIA ART, International Festival of Media Performances, Moscow (Russia)

WORKSHOP EMOTIONAL SKIN (PERFORMANCE 'EGO SUPER-EGO')

Elisava School of Design and Engineering, Barcelona (Spain)
Concept and Art direction: Sonia Cillari
Environment programming: Anna Carreras.
Workshop chair: Raffaella Perrone. Workshop coordinator: Anna Baldrich Aragó.
PERFORMANCE "EGO SUPER-EGO":
During the workshop, students have explored two fields of research: the 'Body as Interface' and 'Performative Spaces'.
Complemented by an intensive introduction on the sensorial and perceptual mechanisms in immersive environments, students created a new performance, a responsive environment which was entitled 'Ego Super-Ego'. The piece focuses on the visualization and sonification in real-time of the relations between body and space, as well as of the changes of proximity of two bodies in physical space.
PRESENTED AT:
- ELISAVA SCHOOL OF DESIGN AND ENGINEERING, 16th Creative Marathon, Barcelona (Spain)

WORKSHOP Performance and Sensorial Spaces

Matadero Contemporary Art Center, Madrid (Spain)
Concept and Art direction: Sonia Cillari
Organized by Telefonica Foundation within the framework of VIDA 13.0 Awards
Curator: Monica Bello.
The workshop focused - through intensive teaching sessions, investigations on particular subjects and group discussions - on exploring the creation of sensorial and perceptual mechanisms in immersive environments, and it examined how patterns of consciousness, perception and identity emerge in such settings.
In a Lab classroom-like set up, participants conducted a series of spatial and bodily exercises that investigated, stimulated and/or actuated multi-sensory experiences. The workshop was structured along three main lines: physical and phenomenological reality, the body as an interface (how do we experience space?), physical phenomena and the radiating body. The event was also conceived as an open debate during which attendees have proposed new perceptive strategies and discussed the specific subjects proposed.
