Electric
Field Sensing Technology interface The sensors system captures the energy interference (in) and (around) the human bodies (bio-magnetic fields) standing on the interface and their movement through it. These bio-kinetic energy information, depending on their relative postion, is translated into screens and acustic coordinates. The interface consists of a sensors floor (with embedded LED lights controlled by the input) made by a grid of electromagnetic RF (Radio Frequency) proximity sensors plates, equipped with a flat pitch antenna (which operate very much like Theremins), tracking electromagnetic signals and foot position. Because the natural electromagnetic field around the human body is extremely weak and difficult to deal with, by stepping on the sensors floor the system generates a low-frequency (160 KHz) and low-voltage (5 Volts) electric signal that reacts to the capacitance of the participant’s body. The body acts as a transmit antenna. Project credits: Supported by the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten www.rijksakademie.nl |
